Information
and broadcasting Minister Chishimba Kambwili says government through the
Independent Broadcasting Authority will not allow certain media houses to
continue being used by political parties.
Speaking
at a media briefing this morning, the minister said media houses should refrain
from practicing partisan politics as this will compromise their operations.
He
says the media has the mandate to disseminate information that is factual and
truthful unlike what is pertaining at the moment.
And
the minister charges that government has the responsibility to protect the
Zambians from wrong information charging that government will not hesitate to
enforce the law.
He
says the government has liberalized the media to allow many media houses to
come on board so that Zambians are given news that is factual and he adds that
if the situation is not controlled, this will lead to people making uninformed
decisions.
And
the Minister has advised former republican vice president Dr. Guy Scott to leave
politics
He
says it is surprising that Dr. Scott who is one of the founding members of the
Patriotic Front has now lost his integrity and has started working with the curtail.
He
charges that Dr. Scott has no integrity and mind of his own but is being used
by people that have nothing good to offer to the Zambians.
He
says Dr. Scott and Democratic Front Leader Miles Sampa should not mislead the Zambians
by saying they have left the PF because of poor leadership because they have
always been against the leadership of president Lungu.
